What to Wear Where...Transition to Fall! [Geeky Chic]

18 September 2012

This weekend I attended the Bloggy Bootcamp in Dallas. I learned a lot of cool things that I can hopefully use to make this blog more fun for you or file away for future Mommy Blogger world domination - you never know!

One of my favorite parts of the conference was meeting I Pick Pretty. I've always appreciated her honesty and ability to style cute outfits that are both life appropriate and tres cute. On Tuesdays she runs a fun link up with Forever 29 called "What to Wear, Where?" and I am so happy to join the party this week!

Today's link up theme is Transition to Fall and I can't think of anything that reminds me of fall more than a hotel conference room - sometimes hot, sometimes cool and all too reminiscent of a new student orientation. I wanted to dress in a way that was light enough for warm temperatures and warm enough for A/C blasts. Since this was one of the first times that I've stepped out representing Pancakes and Beet Juice the superblog, I tried to also be true to myself: more practical than preppy per se, but a lover of a good classic look and a good handbag (duh).

I thought the turquoise necklace and white shirt were more summery while my leopard flats and jeans were fall. Fall is the color of a Pumpkin Spice Latte, and so are my pants!

Editor's Note: To get the full concept of these photos, imagine 8am on a Saturday outside after an evening rain (thus the state of my hair). My neighbors who already think I am completely insane are coming home from a donut run and Markus and I are outside doing our casual photo shoot like this is just what we do every morning to congratulate me for getting dressed. No big deal.

My glasses are some old RayBan wayfarers but I really want to try Warby Parker for my next pair. They are a one-for-one model like TOMS (but for glasses) and the designs are so cute and retro! Has anyone tried them out? I also like the all-inclusive, flat fee prices ($95 with the perscription lens!). I tend to be all "the prettiest house on the block" when it comes to eyewear for some reason.

School supplies always take the jitter out of the unknown and also are just amazing (Mr. Fox can send a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils to this girl any day of the week). So I picked up a new notebook from Target to remind me that I was good enough, smart enough and darnit all these bloggers were going to like me. The cute question mark represents all the questions I wrote down  during the sessions...questions like What the hell am I doing at a blog conference? But that is a blog for another day.

  7. I'm here to vouch for how cute this outfit was in person - still loving those bangles especially.

Speaking of last weekend, thank you so much for the kind words! I don't know what the heck I was doing there either, really, but I sure did have fun meeting nice people like you.

Also - Warby Parker gives me total glasses envy, even more than my usual amount.
