I think I am in the lull of the circle of life as far as Halloween festivities go. I'm too old to trick or treat or even do the Saturday night before bar crawls, but no kiddos to start focusing in on. I'm stuck out in dress up for work and pass out candy land, but it's pretty ok.
A few years ago my girl Molly at Running in Circles and a friend dressed as Laverne and Shirley for Halloween. I thought it was so darling and funny! I knew it would be perfect for a work costume one day if I could get the right partner in crime.
I knew I would make a good Laverne since my first name starts with an L and people have told me that my overbite resembles Penny Marshall's.
I thought I would need to find lab coats, but the aha came when Molly explained that she just used large men's oxford shirts! I painted the L on mine and added gloves, goggles and a head scarf that I had at home.
|Always a Laverne, never a Shirley.|
People will tell you a timely costume has the most impact, a la a burning Big Tex or 50 Shades of Grey. Just remember years from now, no one will know what your random pop culture reference is, but people will still want to Schamiel, Schamzel, Hasenfeffer Incorporated! like Laverne and Shirley.
I'm linking up a day late with What to Wear Where. Please hop over and check out all that is darling Halloween costumes for family over there!
