Well it is definitely fall in Texas. When did our falls get so wet and rainy? I had another rock show rainout this weekend, this time at a Foreigner concert. I was wishing I was a little more hot blooded in that freezing rain! But thankful I was wearing my favorite fall staple: a trusty utility jacket!
I think utility jackets have a really cute classic/tomboy look to them that makes them transitional for different looks and anything from some heavy air conditioning to some seriously crisp weather, depending on what you layer them with. They also fold well so I love traveling with them!
Here I am in a preppy utility jacket buying my Sign by Simon in New Orleans:
I have also sported a trusty utility jacket in San Francisco
and I loved it for all the different climates on our last trip to Germany and Paris!
As you can see from the variance, the hardest thing about the jacket is keeping up with them! I am usually pretty good at keeping track of my favorite clothing items, but something about the jacket being so good for going everywhere and climates where you tend to peel layers means it is a child that has been accidentally left behind a time or two.
I knew I had to replace this wardrobe staple again this fall and there was a version I noticed and seriously had to have forever and ever. I immediately called my little sister and used my (dwindling) influence on her to
beg and plead demand that she carry this Army Jacket with Woven Back in her store, Longhorn Fashions.
Isn't it THE MOST?
So, so perfect and on trend but still a classic look. I am wearing mine everywhere and love that it is roomy for added layers come cooler temps, but the drawstring and cut still keep it flattering.
I had the stylish boutique owner herself take this very high fashion blogger shot as we were leaving dinner when she was in town for market, just so you wonderful readers could see the back in person.
Since my sister is awesome, she is running a 20% off promo code on the jacket for anyone else in need of the perfect fall outerwear with the code BEETJUICE. I am always pushing my juicing agenda on her and this time it is also for the sake of fashion. Hoorah!
Tell me friends: What is your favorite fall fashion staple? What's your thought on the Army Jacket - classic Out of Africa or macho G.I. Jane?
