Join Me at the Gluten Free and Allergy Friendly Expo in Dallas!

02 September 2015

It's hard to believe this fall my mom and sister have been gluten free for almost 10 years. It was such a relief to our family to see something finally helping their situations, but also so confusing. What the heck was gluten free? Certainly not something you saw in stores at the time. I remember talking to my sister on the phone (Lubbock to Austin) and she was so excited one day to get home and realize her gluten free bread had been delivered...in the mail! She had to find brands and order online. So crazy!

It wasn't long after that when I joined them on the gluten free train and also felt completely different without gluten. Headaches gone, skin clearer, more focus and less anxiety during the day. Sourcing gluten free slowly became easier. Finding gluten free food that tastes good, well it's still a bit of a gamble.

Two years ago I heard of the Gluten Free and Allergy Friendly (GFAF) Expo coming to Dallas. It sounded both completely dorky (being honest) and totally awesome. I was way more right about the second part. The hard part of eating gluten free is finding those "treat" items - bread, pizza and baked goods - and knowing they're as good as they are advertised and worthy of my purchase. The GFAF Expo was wall-to-wall food vendors from local bakeries to the biggest names you've heard of at the grocery store, demoing and sampling their gluten free products in a completely safe environment. It. was. HEAVEN.

My mom, Markus and I sampled a ton of product and got to know many of the passionate people behind them. Many of our 2013 GFAF Expo finds are still favorites in our rotation today. The industry has grown so much more since the last time I was able to attend the expo, and I can't wait to see what I find this time! Just peeking at the vendors list for this year, I see a ton of local favorites and some new brands I've been wanting to try as well.

The GFAF Expo will be in Dallas October 17 and 18 this year, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Parking is free, and tickets are $20.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids ages 3-12. What you pay in a ticket you easily get in return with the special weekend classes and eating your weight in samples!

There are some ways to save on your 2015 GFAF Dallas Expo tickets:
- Buy your tickets now through September 16, and get 30% off the regular price with the Early Bird Special
- Or buy your tickets September 16 through October 16 for a special Advance Purchase rate of 20% off

Best of luck and I hope I see you at the expo!

  3. Oh my gosh, I would love to learn more and go to this. I've been battling migraines forever it seems and have been researching cutting out not only gluten, but dairy as well and it seems so overwhelming with a family who has no interest in joining in.
